Bridge Lighting Ceremony is a Sign that West Light Rail is on Track for April Opening

Motorists driving westbound on Sixth Avenue in Lakewood can’t help but notice the newly illuminated Sixth Avenue Bridge, just east of the Simms/Union exit. With City of Lakewood officials on hand, on the evening of January 23rd the Regional Transportation District held a bridge lighting ceremony to mark the completion of construction of the West Rail Line. The approximately 12-mile line will run from the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden to Denver, with several stations in Lakewood, including a stop at the Denver Federal Center and the City’s signature elevated station over Wadsworth Boulevard. The official opening is scheduled for April 26, 2013, eight months ahead of schedule, and Lakewood personnel are working with RTD staff to plan several other public events coinciding with and leading up to the grand opening.
