In late September of 2012, the City of Centennial acquired approximately 9.1 acres located within the Arapahoe Road Industrial Park. The property is approximately one mile from the Centennial Civic Center, south of Arapahoe Road and west of Jordan Road. The property, 7272 S. Eagle Street, includes three existing buildings totaling slightly more than 38,000 square feet. The City currently anticipates engaging in preliminary site and space planning in the first quarter of 2013, with the goal of engaging in substantive site remodeling later this year. Once the site remodeling has been completed, the Eagle Street property will house the City’s Public Works Department and is large enough to accommodate other uses in the future. Currently, it is anticipated that the City’s public works contractor, CH2M Hill, will also relocate staff and equipment to the redesigned Eagle Street property.
Regarding the important acquisition of the Eagle Street property, Centennial’s City Manager John Danielson commented that “after extensive research, the City has secured an exceptional real estate deal that will, simply put, make sense for the long term. The return on investment will be an exceptional value and opens the door to partnerships with other agencies and the private sector.”
Acquiring the Eagle Street property enables the City to continue to focus on providing a high level of services to its residents and taxpayers, and to manage long term costs.
