Wynetta brings more than three decades of municipal legal expertise to Widner Juran LLP, following a distinguished 35 year career with the Colorado Springs City Attorney’s Office--including 11 years as the City Attorney and Chief Legal Officer. In that role, she provided comprehensive legal counsel to the 39th largest city in the nation, supporting the Mayor, City Council, Colorado Springs Utilities, Memorial Health System, municipal enterprises, boards, commissions, departments, agencies, and city staff.
Her decades of work with the Colorado Municipal League are a testament to her deep commitment to the practice of local government law. Wynetta’s contributions to local government education and advocacy extend beyond Colorado. She is a national speaker on a wide range of topics, including ethics, managing complex litigation, real estate manuals, client management, and fostering effective relationships between elected and administrative officials. Through her service on the International Municipal Lawyers Association Board of Directors and as an IMLA Fellow, Wynetta has contributed to amicus briefs before the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and the US Supreme Court.
Wynetta thought that when she retired from Colorado Springs, she would spend all her time hiking, biking, playing pickleball, honing her movie trivia skills, and taking the occasional spontaneous road trip with her family. But her passion for municipal law led her to join Widner Juran LLP, where she brings her decades of insight and leadership to support communities across Colorado.
